Stella Artois' Unique Dining Experience Engages the Five Senses

Published:
This fall, Toronto will be host to a unique dining experience from Stella Artois called the 'Sensorium.'

The three-week experience is one part dining and one part theater, based around the idea of involving all of the senses when eating and drinking. A gigantic dome will be set up for the event, which will serve as the immersive 360-degree theater for the tasting and viewings to go on. For instance, when eating a course of seafood, projection mapping will turn the interior of the dome into an underwater environment. Salty scents from the sea will be projected in order to really recreate the feeling of being by the ocean.

Considering that tickets have been flying off the shelves and it's anticipated that more than 2,000 people will attend this unique dining event, the pop-up dome gives the brand flexibility to bring the Sensorium to other global cities.

Leveraging Intelligent Customer Service Systems to Personalize Brand Experience

PSFK by PSFK Labs

I receive flight options with times and prices curated from my previous travel behavior. No phone, email or search bar necessary; I’m using the text-based service Operator, an artificial intelligence (AI) platform that pairs customers with a personal concierge to help with tracking down hard-to-find products.

“I need an affordable flight from New York to San Francisco anytime next week,” I tell the Operator.

“Would you like a direct flight that leaves in the AM from JFK and an aisle seat?” the Operator responds.

“Yes – direct flight and aisle seat. Either AM or PM is fine.”

Like most services today, the automation feature tracks past searches and previous purchases, enabling highly-personalized suggestions for each particular purchase and individual.

Though most people would prefer to outsource said monotonous tasks to another person, the price of employing someone to assist in our product search trumps convenience. Rather than render human services obsolete, intelligent systems are working in collaboration with live assistants in order to better serve customer needs. This is where services like Operator excel, intuitively and efficiently connecting human experts to consumers.

Coca-Cola : This Vending Machine Encourages People to Share by Giving Two Bottles

Published:
JetBlue and Coca-Cola teamed up to create this cola ad and publicity stunt that encouraged people in an airport to share a coke. The coke machine was set up to produce two coke bottles each time someone used it. Instead of keeping both bottles the consumers were encouraged to share the second bottle, which read "humanity" on the label.

This public display was captured on a hidden video camera inside New York’s Penn Station. The machine was set up for one day. During that one day over 150 people used the machine and 70 percent of those users shared their second bottle of coke with a stranger. This heart-warming cola ad was implemented to support Coca-Cola's 'Share a Coke with Humanity' stance.

Each person who shared a coke with a stranger was congratulated for their humanity-supporting act by receiving two free flight tickets. While the consumers had no idea there was an incentive for their kindness, it made the entire interaction even more special.

Sweat-Activated Drink Dispensers

Gatorade's Drink Vending Machine Only Serves People Who Sweat

Published:
Most drink vending machines are designed to dole out refreshment when the right amount of coins is traded in, but Gatorade's Sweat Machine operates a little differently.

The Sweat Machine was set up at various park locations in Toronto, calling out to runners, bikers and other active individuals as they passed by. Gatorade's machine asked people to place their hand on a panel in order to determine if they were sweaty enough to deserve a drink. If not, the machine challenged people to #KeepSweating by performing a few more squats, burpees or a jog on the spot.

With interactive stunts like these, Gatorade is beginning a shift in focus from celebrating professional athletes to rewarding ordinary people who are inspired to keep active every day.

Never Too Old: Ball Pit Party For Grownups!

1
A year ago swiss social media phenomenon @Zukkihund had posted an infographic which stated that the fun factor of visiting IKEA drops dramatically when you turn 9 and you are no longer allowed to enter the ballpit in the Småland play area for children. When @Zukkihund publicly asked if IKEA could throw a ball pit party for grownups, the feedback was – wonder why – overwhelming. And IKEA was in.

The Simpsons' Duff Beer is Officially Launching in International Markets

21st Century Fox has announced that it will be launching Duff Beer internationally, starting with Chile, followed by select countries in South America and Europe by early 2016. The famed brew is synonymous with the long-standing cartoon series and over the past couple decades has seen its share of beer manufacturers attempting to capitalize on it -- only to be shut down following lawsuits from the media giant. With unauthorized versions of Duff Beer ramping up in South America, Fox executives were forced to make a bold decision, which will delight Simpsons fans across the world. According to Jeffrey Godsick, President of the media company’s consumer products division, “Once you see enough piracy, you are faced with two choices. One is deciding to fight it, and the other is deciding to go out [into the market] with it.” As its first official venture into the brewing industry, the company is working alongside a brewmaster to ensure the flavor of the premium lager is balanced, as well as making sure its packaging is subtle and an exact replica of what is seen in the show. For more information on the official launch of Duff Beer, head over to The Wall Street Journal.

McDonald's Has a Secret Menu

Rumors have long persisted and now, thanks to a recent Reddit AMA with a McDonald’s manager in the UK, we now have confirmation: McDonald’s does indeed have a secret menu. Like West Coast favorite In-N-Out, McDonald’s apparently offers an extensive array of customizable options, all of which are treated as “grill orders” and include the likes of the hilariously-named “McGangbang” — an amalgamation that puts a McChicken inside of a McDouble — and the Big Mac x Filet-O-Fish x McChicken “Land, Sea and Air Burger.” Thankfully, #HackTheMenu has put together a list of secret menu items for interested fast food lovers.

Exercise-Dependendant Water Machines

Exercise-Dependendant Water Machines

The Singapore-based non-profit organization 'Lien AID' recently held a campaign to demonstrate how difficult it can be for many people in the world to access clean drinking water. In many parts of the world, people must travel long distances to find a source of clean water. Lien AID's new campaign sought to educate the Singapore public about how difficult it is for rural people to access water.

The campaign was held on World Water Day and it involved a vending machine called the 'Water Machine.' This smart machine held 160 bottles of chilled drinking water, each of which was available for free. However, in order to receive a bottle of water, an individual had to run in place, do a series of jumping jacks or hold a yoga pose for 45 seconds. Even after the individual performed this task, the machine still wouldn't dispense their bottle of water. The Water Machine would then reveal a story about the hardship that many people endure in order to access clean drinking water, thus instilling the importance of the campaign.

2) Be Client Centric…

Consumer-Targeting Billboards

OfferMoments Creates Custom, Targeted Advertisements

Published: • References: offermoments & ibeaconsblog
By making it possible to create targeted advertisements on billboards, OfferMoments promises to be the most "scary yet exciting" thing you've seen in marketing in a while.

Once a consumer downloads the app, they are able to get tailored notifications when walking by digital displays on the street or in-store. For instance, if you were to walk by a coffee shop with Bluetooth activated on your smartphone, using "OfferBeacons," OfferMoments alerts you that you're eligible to come in and try a new coffee at a discount—it will even call you out by name.

Now that many brands are looking to beacon technology to hyper-target marketing efforts to one rather than many, it's no surprise that OfferMoments was named the winner of the Venturefest in 2014 and is now a part of Virgin Startup.

Attention Shoppers: Brace Yourselves For Beacons

The spread of mobile payment platforms opens a door for stores to cater to customers' personal preferences on site.

You won’t truly be happy until a company knows everything about you. Where you live, how much you make, whom you married, what you buy on your phone and what you buy at a store, favorite sports team, everything. Don’t like hearing this? Take a ball-peen hammer to your phone and smash it repeatedly.
